Muslim Stakeholders Round Table

On November 5, MCN convened the second meeting of the Muslim Stakeholder’s Roundtable. The purpose of these roundtable gatherings is to bring together Muslim organizations or organizations that serve predominantly Muslim populations in New York City with the aim of coordinating our efforts, maximizing impact, learning from each other’s work, and developing capacity building activities to strengthen Muslim civic organizations in our city. At this roundtable, we had representatives from 18 Community Based Organizations and Non-profits present. We shared with each other current hot topics our organizations are working on such as hate crimes and mental health. We talked about what makes our communities successful and engaged in community asset mapping together to identify the key assets in our own neighborhoods as well as in the Muslim Community at large. We brainstormed ways we can harness our community’s strength to support its resilience. We look forward to convening our next roundtable in February.
