Muslim Women's Civic Empowerment
Empowering older, often erased and marginalized immigrant Muslim women through skill-building, civic education, and leadership development across New York City.
Empowering Women, Strengthening Communities
The Muslim Women's Civic Empowerment Program aims to empower older, often erased, marginalized Muslim women through empowerment, know your rights, and civic engagement workshops.
The program is rooted in the belief that Muslim women are powerful, individually and collectively. We believe that by providing them with civic education and leadership development, we can enhance the ways in which they can positively contribute to their communities and society at large.
Program Components
MWCEP provides a holistic approach to empowerment through four key program areas designed to build skills, awareness, and community.
Program Goals
-
Facilitate skill-building, empowerment workshops, and civic education workshops for older, often erased, marginalized immigrant Muslim women and connect Muslim women in hard-to-reach communities with each other.
-
Build relationships with Masjids and other community organizations with the goal of empowering Muslim women and advocating for the rights of women. Empower Muslim women leaders at Masjids, and increase Muslim women participation in local civic engagement activities.
Support Women's Empowerment
