Our Workshops

What is Islam? Who are Muslims in America? We shed light on these and other questions about our faith and community through diversity education workshops in schools, agencies, and companies in New York City and around the world.

Understanding Islam & the Muslim American Experience

An introduction to our faith, communities, and the breadth of Muslim American life — designed for educators, partners, and public officials.

Deep Dive: Islamophobia

A closer look at stereotypes, systemic bias, and the impact of Islamophobia on Muslim New Yorkers — paired with tools to counter it.

Building Relationships with Muslim Communities

Practical guidance for schools, agencies, and organizations serving or partnering with Muslim communities across NYC.

Our Workshops Aim To:

  • Inform and equip educators, parents, public officials, and students with the tools and resources to address the needs of the Muslim community.
  • Help break stereotypes and discrimination against Muslims.
  • Facilitate community building between sects, racial, and ethnic groups — including our Sunni – Shia dialogues.
  • Increase awareness of Muslims — such as through workshops on the role of African American Muslims in the history of the United States — and foster a better understanding of the mosaic that is our society.

Deepening Understanding Through Education

MCN's Education & Advocacy program works to deepen understanding of Muslims and help build inclusive communities. Through diversity education workshops conducted at schools, agencies, companies, and organizations throughout NYC, we address questions about Islam and American Muslims while reducing stereotypes.
