Youth Civic Action Day: Border Crisis

On August 29th, MCN hosted its’ first Civic Action Day! Muslim youth gathered to discuss and take action in response to the border crisis and the new Public Charge rule. Together, we collected 30 letters to send to members of Congress, produced a beautiful art-piece in support of immigrant rights and shared with each other resources and our powerful stories that put into context our place in the United States.

We would like to thank our inspiring performers Daad Sharfi, Samira Sadeque, Faatiha Aayat and Alhassan Umar.

We would also like to thank the NYC Mayor’s office of Immigrant Affairs for sending a representative to speak on the new Public Charge rule.

If you’d like to join us as a performer, speaker, or participant at our next Youth Civic Action Day, please contact Kujegi Camara at Kujegi@mcnny.calliope.consulting
