Community Hair braiding Project for MWCEP Spring Cohort 2026. The Muslim Women’s Civic Empowerment Program continued its cohort in the Bronx with a prep class on Hair braiding. The women practiced how to braid hair using several mannequins into protective styles: corn row, box braid and twist. The women that already knew how to braid acted as instructors while the remaining were the students. They practiced how to pat a hair, how to make lines in the hair before braiding, how to start braiding from the front of the head to the back and how to complete each braid and lock it so it does not fall out. It was a nice first class of practice. The women had fun.
