Araful Mahi’s Biography

I’m a senior at Fordham University, pursuing a major in Economics with a minor in Arabic. My academic journey is deeply connected to my personal passion for social justice, cultural understanding, and community empowerment — values that strongly align with the mission of the Muslim Community Network (MCN). One of the most formative experiences in my life was a month-long trip to Morocco, where I worked closely with underserved communities and directly supported individuals facing poverty and hardship. Witnessing their resilience and humanity had a lasting impact on me. It opened my eyes to the transformative power of grassroots support and inspired a lifelong commitment to helping others. That experience continues to drive my desire to be involved in work that uplifts and empowers those who are often overlooked. At MCN, I hope to use my background, education, and personal drive to contribute meaningfully to the organization’s work — whether through outreach, advocacy, or direct service. I want to help build stronger, more connected communities and make a tangible difference in people’s everyday lives. Outside of my academic and professional pursuits, I’m passionate about health and wellness. I enjoy playing soccer, working out regularly, and finding ways to stay active both physically and mentally.
