Samiur Talukder
Samiur Rahman Talukder graduated summa cum laude from the University of
Bridgeport, CT in 2007 with a B.S. in Finance and Accounting and a minor
in Business Economic. At the University of Bridgeport, Samiur held many
leadership positions and was actively involved with the Muslim Students
Association and the Student Government Association. He was elected as
President of the Business School Club in 2005, during which time he
assisted in coordinating speaker series events focused on representing
diversity in background and thought leadership, and invited speakers, such
as Congressman Christopher Shays and Social Entrepreneur Adnan Durrani.
Samiur also served as a Volunteer Income Tax Assistant (VITA) in 2006,
during which time he provided pro-bono income tax assistance to
international students and underserved members of the community.
Consequently, he was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding
Public Service in the Community by the Department of the Treasury, IRS. In
2007, Samiur was awarded the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Student
Leadership for his contributions to the University of Bridgeport and the
greater community. He was also awarded the Academic Achievement Award in
Finance for graduating first in his class. Most recently, Samiur was
appointed to serve on the Business School Dean’s advisory board.
With respect to his professional experiences, Samiur held several
positions within the Financial Services industry, including buy-side
investing and proprietary trading in New York. His experiences consist of
Merrill Lynch (2006), UBS Investment Bank (2007), and RBS Greenwich
Capital (2008). In 2008, Samiur also co-founded a microfinance venture
with four other alumni from his alma mater, The ESB Group LLC. In 2009,
Samiur was selected as a Muslim Leader for Tomorrow (MLT) in New York by
the Cordoba Initiative, an organization that aims to have an impact in the
American Muslim Diaspora and promotes positive engagements between the
Muslim World and the West.
