Moushumi M. Khan


Ms. Khan graduated from Mount Holyoke College cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1993. There she studied Critical Social Thought and Politics. She spent a year doing a General Course at the London School of Economics in England in 1991 in the Government Department. Ms. Khan received her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1996. She has had extensive experience in the non-profit, development and law sectors. She is a co-founder and President of the Muslim Bar Association of New York. Since February 2001 Ms. Khan has been in solo practice in New York City, concentrating on real estate, corporate and civil rights law. Her clients include the local Muslim and immigrant populations. She has advocated for these communities on post 9/11 civil rights issues, including with the Special Registration Process and racial profiling. Ms. Khan is a frequent speaker at various venues on the impact of 9/11 on these communities and on being a Muslim lawyer. She is an active participant in interfaith activities and in public diplomacy efforts between the United States and the Muslim world. Ms. Khan is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Ms. Khan grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
