In 2010 Muslim Consultative Network continues to work in all four program areas:
Health Education, Civil Liberties/Social Justice, Interfaith and Community Dialogue
and Emergency Preparedness.
"The NYC Muslim community is clearly under stress and the institutions need strengthening. We are far from where other faith communities are but development takes time. Day to day, there is much urgent behind the scenes work that must be done — letters for community members in need, neighbors protesting plans to build a mosque, media smears, conversations with officials — but MCN is also very much committed to transparency and increasing our pubic visibility" said Executive Director Adem Carroll. "Though we seek to better articulate ourselves on the internet in the coming year, we also remain committed to grassroots community presence and hope this year will see increased levels of volunteerism — since we all need to support each other better!"
MCN wishes to encourage community members to assist Haitians following the tragic earthquake. MCN Board Chair Zeeshan Suhail has put together a site that is a clearinghouse of information: haitiearthquakenews.blogspot
In addition, the community is encouraged to support comprehensive immigration reform (CIR) which would improve life for many of our community members. For matters pertaining to immigration, detention and the "war on terror" please see the radio show we co-host "The War on Immigrants Report" — here is one recent shows: December 22 Show
