In response to the tragic Bronx fire, we are reahing out to the African community with important education around fire satey. Attached is the first fire safety forum the Coalition of African Social Service Organizations is co-sponsoring with the Fire Dept.  Councilwomen Carmen Arroyo and  Helen Foster are co-sponsors.  ACS is also spreading the word through its outreach programs.  We have arranged for a French translator through the Fire Dept.but welcome any assistance from Bambara, Mandingo and French speakers.  We are hoping to reach many of the mothers who are home alone with the children so we need help with childcare.

This is the first of 3 forums we are setting up.  Nah We Yone, Sauti Yetu and the Muslim Women's Institute have worked together to plan this one.  African Services Committee, Africa Hope Committee and West Harlem Head Start are organizing the one in Harlem.  African Refuge is planning one in Staten Island.

STOP GENOCIDE, SAVE DARFUR: Muslims, Arabs, and Africans Taking a Stance

Presentation by Jana El-Horr from the The American Islamic Congress (AIC)

The American Islamic Congress has partnered with the Save Darfur coalition
and STAND (a Student Anti-Genocide Coalition) to demand an end to genocide
in Sudan. With the ongoing crisis in Darfur and the dormant voice of Arab
governments and regional bodies, it is vital for Arab-Muslim voices to
speak out for peace and justice.

Question/Answer Session to follow talk.
